Class: Hand Dyeing Cotton Yarns

Back to Index

John C. Campbell Folk School (Brasstown, NC)
May 29-31, 2009

This class is for everyone who works with cotton yarns. Spend the weekend dyeing yarn using several methods—total immersion, spaced dye, and ikat resist. We will use professional dyes and techniques to produce yarns that are colorfast and appropriate for use in weaving, crochet, knitting, tatting, etc. No weaving will be done in this class, but you may choose to continue into the following week to explore ways to use hand-dyed yarn in handwoven fabric. (See the Folk School May 31 "Weaving in Full Color.")
